Commercial Case Study: Artis 600

Recotherm replace poorly performing AHU with CVME 1000

Recotherm were commissioned by Dodd Group, a leading provider of mechanical and electrical services, with replacing ageing air handling units for a military base.

The existing refrigerant-based system was using ozone-depleting R22 gas, together with belt driven fans which posed significant challenges to maintaining optimal indoor air quality and energy efficiency. In addition, there was significant corrosion and together with the escalating operational costs it was decided that it had reached the end of its service life.

Challenges:

The system services a training pool, which meant it had to meet unique, stringent requirements whilst minimising operational costs. In addition, the AHU is sited on a platform one level up, accessible only through standard double doors.

Solution:

Recotherm proposed the installation of its advanced Artis 600 Air Handling Unit (AHU), featuring intelligent, constantly variable fans and damper actuators to ensure maximum efficiency.

Renowned for their superior performance and energy efficiency, the Artis, like all Recotherm units, benefits from a frameless, double skinned panel body coated in Plastisol, making them excellent at resisting corrosion.

To facilitate the installation process, Recotherm devised a strategic plan that involved constructing the AHU on top of the platform and feeding each piece through the doors, ensuring seamless integration with the existing infrastructure.

Sam Doick, Air Conditioning & Mechanical Small Works Manager at Dodd Group commented

“After many years of coping with the problems caused by their old AHU, our client is now benefiting from a reliable and energy efficient unit.
The introduction of controlled fresh air has reduced condensation enabling them to resolve long standing issues with mould which were affecting not only the environment but also the infrastructure.”
