Recotherm’s Wolf Run for Bowel Cancer UK

Recotherm raise over £2000 for Bowel Cancer UK

On a day marked deary weather, the Recotherm team took on the 5K Wolf Run held at Offchurch, Warwickshire. We were poised ready to endure the thick mud, but the spirit of the team was bright..ok brightish.

But it wasn’t just a typical run— we were to find out on the warm up it had become was one of the muddiest and toughest in recent memory.

Knowing that we were running for more than just the thrill, running to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK in honor of John Harvey, our Sales and Operations Director, who recently triumphed over the disease.

The Challenge:

The 5K Wolf Run is known for its challenging obstacles, and this year’s event was no exception. All participants faced climbing over wooden walls and tall obstacles, wading through waist-deep mud pits.  Slippery mud tracks, sometimes up hill and the dense mud through the woods, all exacerbated by the recent heavy rainfall made every step a struggle.   In addition Tracie even lost the soles of her trainers in the mud. Each challenge was met with a collective effort and pushing eachother to keep going.

Eventually we came to one of the most memorable moments, the river swim, where the team had to jump from a bridge and swim up stream in the icy-cold water.  Weighed down by the muddy trainers and clothes the swim for the surface felt like minutes.

Ice bathing has been highlighted for it’s health benefits recently.  We can only presume this is when the opportunity to warm up swiftly afterwards in on the cards, continuing to run that last remaining 1km afterwards, soaked through and freezing certainly didn’t feel like a health benefit.  Despite the brutal conditions, the team pressed on, encouraged the cause that brought them together.

A Team Effort:

At this point an AI software would probably say how we “embraced the challenge and supported each other through every muddy step”.  In the true spirit of a tight knit team, every slippery fall in the mud was met with laughter, followed by a helping hand of course, mud was kicked up legs and there was a fair few complaints of the cold if we’re honest.

Wolfrun’s challenges tested our endurance, but also showcased the strength of our resolve. Every member of the Recotherm team played a vital role in overcoming the obstacles. The teamwork and support they showed for each other were truly inspiring.

A Heartfelt Thank You:

Finally we and all the Recotherm team extends our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the runners on this journey. Thanks to the generous support of friends, family, colleagues, and supporters, the Recotherm team raised over £2,000 in donations for Bowel Cancer UK.  Donations raised will go a long way in supporting Bowel Cancer UK’s mission, from funding research to providing support to patients and their families. The team’s experience at the 5K Wolf Run was unforgettable, filled with mud, sweat, and triumph. But the real victory lies in the positive impact they are making through their fundraising efforts.
